Ortho-keratology is a science of correcting refractive errors by use of rigid contact lenses.

Ortho-correction is a method of correcting refractive errors (ie. nearsightedness) by the use of rigid contact lenses while sleeping. This is a non-surgical way, during which the corneal curvature is changed. Decreasing refractive errors is the effect of orthocorrective lens usage.

Correct your vision during sleep with safe,
non-surgical method of therapeutic contact lens usage.

Free yourself of glasses and soft contact lenses during daytime.

How it works

In nearsighted eye corneal focusing power is too strong. Light rays are focused before they reach retina resulting in blurry image. This can be corrected by prescription glasses, contact lenses or by ortho-correction method.

Ortho-corrective lenses gently reshape the cornea. Corneal curvature is changed during sleep in a way to focus light rays on the retina. This results in a sharp image.

At Our Clinic American made PARAGON CRT lenses are applicated. These are first corneal refractive therapy contact lenses to receive FDA approval for american market and CE for european market.

Qualification examination

In order to match contact lens to correct particalur refractive error, patient must undergo qualification examination. Refraction, keratometry, computerized corneal topography map and visus is taken. The doctor examines eyes in slit lamp and intraocular pressure is checked.

With results of investigation our doctor is able to choose the correct lens for the patient. The corneal refractive therapy lens is applied and fitting is checked in slit lamp. Next, after controling the influence the lens has on cornea, the doctor recommends the lens for ortho-correction.

To prepare for qualification examination it is recommended not to wear any soft contact lenses for few days, rigid contact lenses for two weeks before examination.

Candidate

Who is a good candidate for ortho-correction?

Because the method is a non-surgical way to correct the refractive error of the eye, there are no contra-indications for use in children. Our Clinic applicates lenses to patients from 10 year old. Corneal refractive therapy lenses are intended for nearsightedness up to -6 diopters and small astigmatism.

Good candidate is a person not decided for laser vision correction, or not qualified for the surgery.  The effect is reversible with the moment of not using the lenses any more.
